American Mafia is anti-communist, and rely on businesses that need a free market system, they suffer from lockdowns as they own alot of restaurants and bars, social venues.
They began to get squeezed around 9-11, NYC was not just a money center, that area was their home and they lost alot of frens who were not involved in crime, fireman, cops, etc. They knew it was an inside job and sold assets prior to 9-11 reportedly the scrapyard they brought the steel to. They prolly had no choice.
The mob was partly controlled by Rockefeller factions who had a part in organizing the commission. Rockefeller also controlled many FBI, Courts and most of the oil business. Within the Rockefeller empire the FBI was used to protect LCN and to punish it when they went against the orders.
Rockefeller power began to wane due to age and changes in crime, and cash/assets because of decline in the outlook of fossil fuels.
The globalist families after 9-11 began to encroach on Rockefellers areas of control and empire because the push was to destroy america and Rockefeller with all the faults was a hardcore, powerful american crime, political and social network, using the LCN as a major asset or division of the company, they were criminal but patriots.
The Clinton clown block of the Dems gained power and worked with russian organized crime to offset the power of LCN, they also brought in MS13 for a similar reason.
Rockefellers bigger assets which financed their black market networks were to a small degree exxon and primarily mobil (sony), and the globalists climate accords were hurting their business model, the DNC went after the companies with LGBTQ suits and Schneidermann AG (who was exposed and resigned when DJT came in) was trying to take them down.
The DS hacked SONY around this time and tried to blame NK. Could have been a warning to rockefeller people who were resistant to taking america down.
At some point soros took over rockefeller activities which had been controlling politics and social culture.
I think the LCN and italian mafia prefer a DJT future and if the DNC needed help in Philly, I imagine it was a political threat by DNC that Merlino went along with, what they did to MF, DJT, etc. is how they operate now, go along or get framed/exposed and arrested.
So my theory here is Merlino went along but tipped off DJT before it habbened and made a deal, prolly to keep him alive and protect what was left of his dying org., everything the mafia once did illegally is pretty much taken over by immigrant crime and they have legit stuff left that needs protecting from socialists.
