THAT'S a little severe. i'd settle for a plague that killed all humans, but left other creatures unharmed. they'd still have to deal with the shit we left behind, like toxic waste and nuclear reactor melt-downs, but in the long run nature can heal itself of almost anything.

possibly, except there is a WEALTH of empirical evidence to suggest what reincarnation anon believes is factual reality.
i agree, that would be ideal. but i'm a realist. humans are irredeemably flawed, and we will not only destroy ourselves in the long run, we will take this beautiful planet with us.
read the gnostic gospels. jesus also spoke of reincarnation. jesus himself was a transmigrated soul. that is what the story of the God speaking while john the baptist baptized his is about. the soul born into jesus departed and was replaced with a divine entity.
there is no contradiction between acknowledging the reality of reincarnation, and the fact that some people will try to exploit that as a mechanism of control over the unwashed masses.

my POINT was we will not only kill ourselves, we will set nature and evolution back almost as far as an asteroid impact. i happen to think nature is beautiful, and wish to see as much as possible survive our brief insult.
or perhaps good and evil do NOT exist outside of our consciousness. THEY are the arbitrary constructs. reality simply IS. meaning only exists after WE create it, and has NO validity beyond our emotional "need" for it.

i am NOT disagreeing with you. obviously duality is a part of reality. i am talking about the human quest to ascribe some sort of deeper meaning which does not exist, in particular, good and evil.
a cat KILLS a mouse. were is the good? where is the evil? the mouse dies a savage death. the baby mice she was nursing die because she is no longer there to protect and feed them. but other creatures find the dead baby mice and by eating them, their life is sustained. the cat gets nourishment so she can go back and nurse her baby kittens. what if the mouse had gotten away? the cat starves, her kittens starve. which is the greater good? the greater evil? or maybe good and evil DO NOT EXIST. those are fantasies concocted by humans because of our own insecurities, and neurotic need for "meaning."
