Bombardier DH8D circling farm land in south central PA.

I noticed this going on several days right about 6-7 PM, and looked it's history up. It's done this same circle for 14 out of the last 30 days.

I've been in that area a few times, and as far as I ever saw, it's jujst farmland on rolling hills, nothing special to see.

In its latest budget request for the 2019 fiscal year, the U.S. Army is asking for more than $80 million to keep working on converting a number of de Havilland Dash-8-315 planes into RO-6A intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance aircraft. Thanks to a separate contracting announcement, we know they will each have a powerful combination of electro-optical, infrared, and hyperspectral cameras, wide-area surveillance systems, imaging radars, and signals intelligence gear when they start to enter service in 2020.

Any other planefags see this pattern lately?

Any idea what's there that it's surveilling?

Okay, I knew about Raven Rock, but was focused on the center of the circle instead. I guess they like making perfect circles when they fly over their buddies.

Nope, really doesn't work - the nearest arc of that circle is 16 nautical miles from Raven Rock, and 20 miles from the center of the circle.

If it were keeping an eye on Raven Rock, it'd be closer, I'd think.

About the time you posted that, he reversed course back on his tight flight. Precision! Musta got tired of flying clockwise. Must be a great autopilot, maybe he's checking in here while the plane flies itself.
