What if banks allowed 3rd parties to arbitrarily change your account balance as they saw fit, without your knowledge?

What if your bank only allowed you to check that you have an account with them, but you are not permitted to know your account balance?

What if 3rd parties were able to remove some of your money and give it to their preferred client?

Would banks be able to stay in business if they operated the banking system the way the voting system is done?
