How many hundreds of millions of users does WhatsApp have? Phone number needed there, too, and no one seems to bitch about it.
I agree. I have Whatsapp installed on a separate phone with NO email accounts installed, NO contacts, NO files, NO photos, and NO other personal information. The "fatal permissions" for that app are unacceptable, but the app is critical when international contacts rely so heavily on it.
Parler has an interesting problem to solve here. They want a community of "all" check-marks for accountability, but they are scaring off the most skeptical of their potential user base.
