Nuremberg Trial.
Having read several books about Nurmberg, a key issue was how the Allies could justify having jurisdiction. The problem was that the Allies wanted to have a trial for German citizens within Germany. How could the Allies justify having the jurisdiction to do this?
The rule they came up with is that jurisdiction is established by whatever entity has political control.
