"After President Donald Trump's defeat in the 2020 presidential election, the campaign filed a number of lawsuits to challenge the results across the US. Brann presided over a Pennsylvania case, Donald J. Trump for President v. Boockvar. Pennsylvania was pivotal in determining the election of Joe Biden as president. Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani asked the judge to block the certification of nearly seven million votes. Brann dismissed the case with prejudice on November 21, 2020, citing "strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations." He likened the Trump team argument to "Frankenstein's Monster" and characterized the requested remedy to disqualify the votes as "unhinged."
