In 2016, the controversial Bill C-14 was introduced, making Canada one of the few places in the world where euthanasia is formally legal.
After the bill was passed, between 2016 and 2019, 13,946 Canadians received medically-assisted deaths. But a new bill — Bill C-7 — is raising serious concerns about which individuals should be eligible for medical assistance in dying (or, MAID) services.
If you haven't heard of Bill C-7 yet, you’re not alone.
Despite the importance of this bill, the media has been silent. Those in opposition to it, like Cloverdale-Langley MP Tamara Jansen and St. Albert-Edmonton MP Michael Cooper, argue that it is being rushed through by the government, and that more discussion about its potential impact is needed.
But it’s not just MPs that are concerned about the bill. Medical professionals and members of the disabled community have also pleaded for it to be reconsidered.

After Bills regarding MAID are passed, medical professionals and hospice workers can be put in a position that goes against their religious or ethical values.
One such worker, Angelina Ireland from the Delta Hospice Society, described the pressure her hospice is receiving to perform MAID as “stone cold communism.”

What would Christmas Day be like if there were no gift-wrapped toys waiting for kids under the Christmas tree? It wouldn't be much of a Christmas at all, would it?
But this is 2020, and, thanks to the pandemic, too many politicians and bureaucrats have morphed into real-life Grinches! They've been putting businesses in an open-and-close cycle of despair for months, and the holiday season is proving to be no different.
The recent casualties of the no-fun-nanny-state includes a fantastic little toy shop in Bolton, Ontario called Nobletoyz, which was told to shut its doors under the 'grey zone' lockdown Peel region is now in.
Yet, the owner of Nobletoyz, Derrick Noble, is not bending the knee to the authorities who demand that he must close his shop while the toy departments at big box remain open for business. International corporations like Walmart and Costco can sell toys, so why not a small, locally-owned business?
Last Saturday, Noble took a stand and opened his shop to the public. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive. Indeed, even people who weren’t in the market for toys or collectibles made the trek out to Nobletoyz to show their support.
Alas, like other entrepreneurs who have taken a brave stance against the government Grinches, Noble has indeed paid a price for his civil disobedience. He's received tickets from bylaw enforcement officers — and even a visit from the Ontario Provincial Police!
Only time will tell if this local toy shop will continue to receive more tickets in the days leading up to Christmas. But let’s hope sanity prevails and that Derrick Noble is allowed to sell his toys without further harassment so this Toy Story can have a happy ending.

Saturday, thousands of Calgarians took to the streets to protest mandatory masks, targeted measures limiting indoor and outdoor gatherings in Alberta, and restrictions on the number of people allowed in restaurants and retail spaces as part of the Alberta government’s ongoing battle with COVID-19 case counts.
Currently, outdoor gatherings are limited to 10 people. Indoor gatherings are capped at those who share a household.
The “March For Freedom” met at Calgary’s City Hall plaza at 1:00 p.m. and wound through the city’s downtown core before convening back on the square for speeches.
Speakers included John Carpay, of the Justice Centre For Constitutional Freedoms, and Artur Pawlowski, the Street Church pastor who was fined once again for breaking the 10 person limit on outdoor gatherings to feed and minister to downtown Calgary’s homeless population.
The weekly protest has grown in numbers and, as a result, has drawn the ire of Premier Jason Kenney and the attention of the Calgary police. After the November 29 protest, police issued six fines to organizers and attendees for violating public health orders.
Rebel News was on hand to ask the marchers why they would risk a $1,200 fine to be on the plaza.
