That you took my statement as being directed at you proves you don't understand. People are upset, they feel cheated, but many think that everything will go back to normal soon enough.
You, yourself, don't quite understand the shadow which looms.
It is said that when Saruman looked through the Palantir at the Dark Lord's army and plan, it was at that point Sauron twisted Saruman's mind. What Saruman saw was an unstoppable force and army to conquer the whole of Middle Earth. Rather than fight it, becoming a part of it was the only way to survive or, perhaps, even to overthrow the Dark Lord in time.
That is what and who we face. People who have become convinced good cannot win and only evil will prevail. They may think they can survive to fight for something they want to protect or obtain - but fundamentally, they believe good has failed and will never defeat evil.
They don't have to be evil… Just believe that evil is what reigns.
