Hey Nightshift Frens?
Are there any ScannerFags, as in "police" scanners, on duty right now? Anyone have any scanner expertise?
I ask this question because I think a scanner would be really handy at times like these. My mom's father was a policeman years ago. When my mom got older she told me she was very interested in having a scanner.
So one year, for my mom's 60-something birthday, I brought her a Radio Shack Pro 197, and my mom's face lit up brighter than I've ever seen it, ever. Well, to make her really happy I taught myself how to program it for my mom. I bought a book called RADIO REFERENCE, which isn't even published anymore, and I plugged in all kinds of things my parents would love.
Now programming an analog scanner wasn't too hard, but nowadays they're all digital or on trunked systems.
I'd love to be able to learn how to prgram this high-powered, Radio Shack Pro 651. I've searched YouTube videos but they're not that easy to follow. I also contacted SCANNER MASTER via chat twice but they were not helpful.
So I figure maybe there are some LEOs or dispatchers who may have a clue and might be willing to help me learn?
I think all Patriots should have a scanner in these rough times. Ham radio, too. I recently had a rough iincident with some dirtballs who surrounde my car this summer, and only my revolver saved me.
So yeah, the unexpected can and does happen. I think we might benefit from having scanner nearby, especially a portable one, so we can keep it with us when driving and learn what spots to avoid at any given moment.
Thanks guys. Stay safe
