Anon, put your kid in judo. He will get picked on once more, but after he (she) responds it will end. My boy had to defend himself one time in third grade against an older kid. When the bully's feet were in the air (double knee-drop) and after he hit the ground and was put on oh si komi (body lock), the entire school learned. Nobody ever picked on him again. Do it.

Yes. Judo is the 'tame' or competitive form of jujitsu. You can't 'compete' in jujitsu, because you have broken limbs or are dead.
