The media, without any exaggeration is controlling the minds of almost everyone. It's able to turn literally anything into truth, they don't even have to provide any proof at all, what they say is by default the truth. No matter what happens they'll still believe the narrative. People completely lost their sense of judgment, something could be happening right in front of their eyes and affecting them a lot and they still won't question it and rather listen to what 'authority' says about it. And the worst part is that they're not even aware that they're doing it even if you show them. I can't imagine any event that could wake people up. I hope white hats have something amazing up their sleeve.
