Biden's stance on abortion has previously prevented him from receiving Holy Communion

Washington D.C. Archbishop Wilton Gregory says he'll serve Holy Communion to Joe Biden, despite the Democratic politician's abortion-rights stance.

Gregory, now in Rome where he will be made a cardinal on Saturday, also expressed hope that he and Biden, if he becomes the next U.S. president, can form a "conversational relationship" on the matter.

Simon & Schuster-Penguin Random House merger will control one-third of books sold in US, raising anti-trust concerns

American media company ViacomCBS announced Wednesday it agreed to sell its subsidiary publishing firm, Simon & Schuster, for $2.175 billion.

The third-largest publisher in the US will be sold to British-German publishing company Penguin Random House, according to a statement by ViacomCBS.

"Proceeds from the transaction will be used to invest in ViacomCBS’s strategic growth priorities, including in streaming, as well as to fund the dividend and pay down debt," it added.

As part of the strategy, the company also agreed in October to sell US consumer technology website CNET for $500 million

For instance, they said, gel pen inks have become a prominent type of ink in forensic document examinations but present a challenge because gel inks are difficult to analyze by conventional techniques. Laser sampling works well on gel inks, they noted.

A total of 400 different types of ink were analyzed and more than 97 percent of writing inks and up to 100 percent of printing inks were correctly “discriminated” by the LIBS system.
