Trying to defuse a bomb with hundreds, if not thousands, of interconnected wires takes time, patience, and the ability to follow the wires down to their connections instead of wildly cutting through the mass losing all information on how the “bomb” was created to begin with. Layer after layer of this we see a new “fuses”/wires surface. Allowing this allows their connections to the next layer underneath to be revealed.
