Universe Filled With Mystery Substance Called “Quintessence”
An international team of scientists is suggesting that the accelerating expansion of the Universe could be caused by a mystery substance called “Quintessence” that permeates the cosmos.
Not all scientists fully subscribe to the theory though, as Nature points out, arguing instead that dark energy is made out of a “fifth element,” or what the researchers from the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) in Japan and the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Germany are now calling quintessence. As they frame it, quintessence is neither an inherent property of space determined by a constant nor a form of matter. If dark energy were indeed such a quintessence, that would mean its density would drop over time as the galaxy expands.

The Planck – Kleinert Crystal hypothesis is analyzed for an ideal cubic fcc crystal formed by
Planck particles. In this type of a quasi-continuum the energy, momentum, and mass transport are
described by the classical balance equations. The transverse wave is the electromagnetic wave, and its
velocity equals the velocity of light. The quasi-stationary collective movement of mass in the crystal
is equivalent to the particle (body), and such an approach enables derivation of the Schr¨odinger
equation. The diffusing interstitial Planck particles create a gravity field, and the computed value
of G is within the accuracy of experimental data. The model predicts four different force fields and a
vast amount of the “dark matter and dark energy” in the crystal lattice. It allows for a self-consistent
interpretation of multiscale phenomena.

Emerging Gravity from Defects in World Crystal
One of the most important features of string theories is that
they assume the validity of Lorentz invariance for all energies
in the trans-Planckian regime [1]. In this lecture we would
like to point out that an entirely different scenario is possible. It could be that we live in a world crystal with a lattice
constant of the order of the Planck length, without being able
to notice this. None of the present-day relativistic physical
laws would have to be observably violated. The gravitational
forces could arise from variants of ordinary elastic forces in
this world crystal, and the observed curvature in gravitational
spacetime could be just a signal of the presence of disclinations in the world crystal. Matter would be sources of disclinations.
