My take on the Iran oil tanker is that it may have been going to NK not SK, coming from Iran possible. And we've embargoed imports into NK so we put a hard stop to it.

Also reminds me of those boat accidents where our ship was stuck in the water and a container ship could ram it, also over in that part of the Pacific. Was the oil tanker successfully disabled by the same tech – and if so who could do that – and that would say something about who did it to US ships.
