As a social and fiscal conservative, I find myself on unfamiliar ground re UBI. I think it can work. Possibly it is even a genuinely good idea. I know, I know.
I believe the Finland(?) experiment failed because the UBI was given only to unemployed people. It should be given to everyone. Those who are NOT predisposed to work will get by on UBI. Those who are predisposed to work will use the money constructively to improve their lives.
I'm not really prepared to make a cogent defense of UBI, but I do believe it has real possibilities.
I really look forward to the day when the Great Awakening has been fully realized. I believe then ideas will be something we can discuss based on their own merits, rather than ideas being smoke and mirrors used by the political class to create leverage for themselves and/or hide their nefarious doings.
