We have always been told this would somehow end up in military court (tribunals). I always wondered how that would happen with Huber and/or Durham supposedly investigating. Their work would end up in civilian courts.

Not exactly. All it really takes is several rewrites of random data patterns over the deleted sectors of the hard drives and the data originally saved in those sectors are effectively “shredded.” Used to set up this level of deletion for sensitive data destruction all the time.
