Premier Andrews announces major health reconfiguration and hotel quarantine revamp

Premier Daniel Andrews has announced a major revamp for the state’s health department which will include a new and improved quarantine system along with the creation of a new Department for Families, Fairness and Housing.
Speaking at a press conference, the premier said the new quarantine program labelled ‘COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria’ would cater to international flights which were set to start back up on December 7.
“This new program will be reset under a specific and dedicated administrative office,” he said.
Mr Andrews also announced the new program would be spearheaded by current corrections commissioner Emma Cassar and would no involve private security guards
Speaking about changes to the Victorian department of health and human services, the premier said a new department would be created specifically for families, fairness and housing while the department of health would focus on health, mental health and the aged care sector.
The premier spruiked his “massive reform agenda” and said the changes were intended to promote a more targeted approach to health in the wake of the pandemic.
