Mobile Gundam statue unveiled near Tokyo
A life-size figure of a robot from a popular Japanese animation, "Mobile Suit Gundam," has been shown to the media at a pier in Yokohama, near Tokyo.
Thirty-four parts of the 18-meter-tall Gundam statue can be moved to make it walk or to change the positions of its fingers and arms.
Visitors can also simulate operating Gundam while looking at footage from a camera in the robot.
The statue will be on public display from December 19 to March 31, 2022. It's part of a project that was launched last year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first broadcast of the anime.
The opening had initially been scheduled for October, but was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
