8chan went down when cloudfare decided to stop hosting the site because of that shooting in El Paso quickly followed by the Dayton shooting.
The fucker posted a manifesto on 8chan and Cloudfare stopped helping with dDOS protection.
That's what started it, and that's why we still occasionally have dDOS attacks here on the new platform
I was taking notes in case anyone needed it between the time 8chan went down and it came back.
I stopped in November 2019, which is silly because that was RIGHT AS covid was starting to kick off.
Should have kept going.
It was a hell of a lot of work.
Nobody seemed to care when 8kun came back, everyone was pretty excited to have the board back I guess.

That company, based on media coverage and slanderous articles written on social media, and also based on their own biases, decided to stop hosting 8chan.
That started a huge series of dDOS attacks, which crippled the whole site.
Without dDOS protection, any dumbass with an internet connection could dDOS the site.
Ron couldn't get another competent company to replace them, so the attacks were ceaseless and unbending.
The site had to be taken down.
Ron had been working on some background stuff for a while, and decided to step on the gas pedal re: those projects, and after a couple months, we got a rebirth: 8kun.
That's how it went down.

The manifesto was posted like after the guy was arrested or something. I can't remember all the details but it was either while the shooting was taking place or after he was in custody.

The reality of it all is that the whole takedown of 8chan was about /qresearch.
They were trying so hard to take down what we do.
They could never pin violence on us so they did the only thing they could do, splatter human blood all over the site so companies would distance themselves from it.
