Wondering who's been providing the intel to train the AI and ML in order to flag your Facebook account account? It's Appen! Fret not, only the best of the best are recruited to generate the data - you must be an individual with leftist views. Don't worry, they'll pay you - not well though!
From the past two notables and digs, we know that Appen based in Australia with offices worldwide, including the US and China, is used by Facebook to crowdsource workers to generate machine-readable data. Once the crowdsourced workers (aka their contractors) perform tasks and data is collected, this AI/ML-friendly data housed at Appen and then sold to FB, Google, and other companies. These contractors also train search engines which results to show first when a search term is entered.
Going to Appen's careers page, two institutions are listed: Global Impact Sourcing Coalition (GISC) and Allen Institute for AI (AI2).

GISC: Launched with the help of Rockefeller Foundation. GISC is a sub-project of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR). BSR's early work can be traced back to the Social Venture Network (svcimpact.org) in 1991; the early version of GISC is "designed to serve as the voice of progressive businesses in policy formation in Washington, DC.
Interestingly, The Social Venture Network is also involved in creating B Corp and American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC).
Kek, Facebook, Google, SAP Ariba, and other companies are on the steering committee of GISC.

Looking at the Board of Appen, William (Bill) Pulver of Australia is a Director. He was the CEO of the Australian Rugby Union in 2013-2018. Interdastingly, his daughter Madeleine is cited as the victim of the Mosman bomb hoax in 2011 which occurred in NSW, Australia.
When you look up reviews of Appen, you will note numerous testimonials from contractors where their pay is very low (i.e. $5.00). In other words, below minimum wage, below poverty line wage. Sounds really progressive and socially responsible right frens? Facebook and Google do live up to their promise when it comes to ensuring sustainability in other countries - but paying them horrible and letting them suffer!
