That's the connection most missed when they say "God wins". He does, but uses human hands to do it.

God called Abraham's father to leave his homeland and go to Canaan. But the father settled just a few hundred miles from where he started. He didn't follow instructions, he didn't answer God's call and didn't get the promise. God went down the bloodline, and gave the same deal to Abraham, but HE took God up on the deal. We never hear about Abe's father after he "settled" short of the finish line. God wins this …even if he has to go through a few folks to find those who will take him up on his offer.
