> it's a well-maintained flock of sheep by the royal shepherds these past 1200 years

Tell that to the heroes of the 1381 Peasants’ Revolt

Tell that to the heroes of the Pilgrimage of Grace in 1536

Tell that to the brave protestors of Peterloo in 1819

We might have been crushed in our popular uprisings, but we’ve not lacked for courage in confronting the establishment machine.

One day we’ll rise again and at last be victorious.

The cross has always been a symbol of Christ’s triumph and our salvation and resurrection.

This is the ancient hymn sung at the resurrection Mattins of Pascha in the Orthodox Church. Note that “through the cross joy has come into all the world” because “He has destroyed death by death.”

Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the holy Lord Jesus, the only Sinless One. We venerate Thy cross, O Christ, and we praise and glorify Thy holy Resurrection; for Thou are our God, and we know no other than Thee; we call on Thy name. Come all ye faithful, let us venerate Christ’s holy resurrection, for behold, through the cross joy has come into all the world. Let us, ever blessing the Lord, praise His Resurrection, for by enduring the cross for us, He has destroyed death by death.
