Ask them to tell you what they think will happen next. Or start a journal and every week make predictions for the next week/month/3 months.
If their belief system is sound, their predictions should be good. If they don't get it (and they don't), they'll be wrong about everything. Let them prove to themselves they need to take in more information and correct their own faulty beliefs. If they can't come back with some accurate predictions, they're not even trying, will look stupid, and are in for a bumpy ride since they can't see anything that's coming.
