you know, back in the day when a Germanfag like me would read history books, like Fest's Hitler, I had to look up the definition of the word "Defaitism". In Germany we write it like that because we took it from French, not from English. Since then I have thought long and hard about mental energy, belief and about desperation.
Belief is not something that you are filled with passively, but it is something you actively uphold. Search in the deep recess of your mind and leave aside the fear that comes from outside.
