5 de diciembre de 2020, 11:29Caracas, Dec 5 (Prensa Latina) Former United States presidential candidate Gloria La Riva has assured that no one can doubt the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections that will take place in Venezuela on Sunday, December 6th.

La Riva, who arrived in this country to participate as an international observer in the elections, stressed in statements to Prensa Latina that the National Electoral Council (CNE) was transparent throughout the process in each of the phases of the schedule, which they certified in audits endorsed by national and foreign experts.

The renowned US politician, who follows closely everything that happens in this country and in Latin America, expressed her confidence that the Venezuelan people know how to decide their fate at the polls and vote to preserve the revolutionary project started by Commander Hugo Chavez 20 years ago.

Gloria La Riva was a Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) candidate for president of the United States in 2020. She lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.

La Riva was also a PSL candidate in the 2016 presidential election.

The idea that the capitalists’ grip on society and their increasingly repressive state can be abolished through any means other than a revolutionary overturn is an illusion. Equally unrealistic are reformist hopes for a “kinder, gentler” capitalism, or solutions based on economic decentralization or small group autonomy. Meeting the needs of the more than 6.5 billion people who inhabit the planet today is impossible without large-scale agriculture and industry and economic planning.

There are really only two choices for humanity today—an increasingly destructive capitalism, or socialism.

Public funding of presidential primary candidates

Eligible candidates in the presidential primaries may receive public funds to match the private contributions they raise. While a candidate may raise money from many different sources, only contributions from individuals are matchable; contributions from PACs and party committees are not. To participate in the primary matching fund program, a presidential candidate must demonstrate broad-based support by raising more than $5,000 in matchable contributions in each of 20 different states. Candidates must agree to use public funds only for campaign expenses, and they must comply with spending limits

Public funding of general election candidates

Major party nominees are eligible for a general election grant. The basic $20 million grant is adjusted for inflation each presidential election year. By 2008 (the last year a major party candidate chose to accept a general election grant), that amount had grown to $84.1 million. (In 2020, the general election grant will be $103.7 million.)

Biden must kick BLM to the curb

https://sputniknews.com/us/202012051081370587-democrats-must-ditch-defund-police-agenda-or-face-defeat-in-2022-mid-terms-says-pollster/

After the unprecedented Black Lives Matter protests across the US following the killing of unarmed African-American George Floyd in late May, many progressives have pushed for an agenda referred to as “defund the police”. However, the popularity of that idea among ordinary Americans has since become a subject of much public debate.

If the Democrats hope to maintain a competitive edge in the 2022 mid-term elections, then they should ditch the “defund the police” agenda, renowned party pollster, Douglas Schoen, told The New York Post.

Issuing a dire warning to the party that it either ditch its activist social justice agenda or perish politically, Schoen told The Post that, “the data says to me that if the Democrats go the progressive route they can lose the House and the Senate overwhelmingly in 2022.”

Pictures of A68a were released Friday following a reconnaissance flight of the iceberg. At roughly 93 miles long and 30 miles wide, the floe is believed to be the world's largest.

The pictures taken by British military aircraft, offering some of the closest views of the iceberg thus far, show cracks and apparently smaller chunks of ice breaking off.

In a Facebook post, British officials note that because of the iceberg's massive size, it's nearly impossible to photograph it in full with the exception of satellite imagery.

The chunk of ice cleaved off the Larsen C ice shelf in Antarctica in 2017 at a reported size of roughly 2,300 square miles. Researchers have noted for some weeks now that A68a has been on a collision with the island of South Georgia.

The iceberg is roughly 130 miles off the island's coast and could run aground in shallow coastal waters.

The government there said on Saturday that it's keeping close on eye on the iceberg's trajectory.
