I see this as more a remodelling/"desecration" of the Nazi flag. The corner X means 'no' or crossed out, and the AF is a replacement of the Swastika. I can't read this as an endorsement, emulation or ideology affiliation. Perhaps they are tapping into the extremism but sending it the opposite direction, which is very AF.

 

Q seems confused and this evidence is weak or non-existent.

Interesting idea. The red black combo for flags on both sides can be seen as mimicking. But Hitler chose the red/black to fly under the radar communists for a time. So the alike colours can't be seen as a modern relatioinship either.

 

Your idea is valid but can't be directly related to the cause of mimicking in any way I can see. Which still leaves Q's flag post as very odd and wrong.

I think as each ideology (in practice) fails it rotates to the next ideology. So your pic related is true but in practice, but not the original imagined plan.
