Reporter asks Gov. Whitmer at Nov 3, 2020 presser, "Can you briefly explain why the black community is at increased risk (to Covid)?" Big Gretch passes the 'unique exposure to the African American community' question to (African American) Dr. Khaldun who replies:
"I think when we talk about, uh, why we've seen these disparities it is important to understand that it has nothing to do with, with skin color. It's really about exposure and, and what jobs people are doing and what resources they have. So if you think about early in the pandemic, when we said most individuals needed to stay at home, there were still essential workers who had to come out of their homes. Maybe they didn't have a car and they needed to share rides. Maybe they still had to go out to the grocery store and couldn't ah have, have delivery service… um, or maybe they were front line workers, um, who, who sometimes tend to not make as much money so they had to work in our grocery stores or drive our buses, so it's really about exposure and equity when it comes to uh why we, we, we've seen these disparities."
