I work in pension benefits for construction workers. Talked to a guy the other day who is old enough to retire and is eligible, but his benefit will be nearly cut in half because he is still too young for a full benefit.
He needs 3 more years to get the full benefit.
Told me the only reason he wants to stop working is bc he is terrified of COVID; he and spouse have health problems and he can't risk getting it….
Told me his kids won't even visit bc everyone is scared…
It broke my heart that he was making this life changing decision on the BULLSHIT.
