Correct. I think there’s been maybe 3 deaths in my county. They were old. Sad, yes but if not covid then probably pneumonia would have killed them. Our businesses are dying, rely on tourism. Our town is losing.
It’s scary and slow. It’s a snowball effect. Mrs Smith has job hours cut and cannot afford our little local grocery store and buys online. Mr Miller the grocer, sees his food be unbought and his bottom line struggling, so he cuts hours for Johnny the cashier. Johnny has less pay so he declines to buy the guitar at the mom and pop shop. And that’s not even our tourism. Fewer people this past summer because all the festivals cancelled, so lost revenue in our local restaurants, bars and bait and hunting stores. 99% of my Christmas shopping was local, with locally sourced goods. We do what we can, but we’re only one family…
