Merkel is coming in on the heels of Macron's visit and the object probably is to paint Merkel as a 'Debbie Downer' vis a vis Macron.
So Trump plays up the positives with Macron now than unloads on Iran after the Merkel visit. It becomes Merkel's fault.
Germany should have gotten their shit together and copied what Macron did in France to be elected, it was all there, but they blew it.
Macron talking about 'no new nationalism', etc, is BS. It's just opening the door for the trap that Merkel will walk in to.
That's the way I see it.
