US weekly jobless claims total 209,000, vs 230,000 expected
New applications for U.S. unemployment benefits dropped to their lowest level in more than 48 years last week, suggesting that March's slowdown in job growth was probably temporary. ous week.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell 24,000 to a seasonally adjusted 209,000 for the week ended April 21, the lowest level since December 1969, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Data for the prior week was revised to show 1,000 more applications received than previously reported.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast claims falling to 230,000 in the latest week. Claims appear to be settling after volatility in recent weeks caused by different timings of the Easter and school spring breaks.

BOOM: GOP Rep. Drops HAMMER, Calls For Imprisonment Of Clinton, Comey, McCabe, Lynch
Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney of New York dropped the hammer on Tuesday by demanding the imprisonment of failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, fired FBI Director James Comey, fired Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
She is also calling for the two anti-Trump FBI agents, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, to also face the music.
In an email sent out to her supports, Tenney created a petition calling on Americans to support her goal of draining the swamp in Washington, D.C. and holding those accountable for their actions.
Tenney was one of 11 Republicans in the House of Representatives who signed a letter calling on the Department of Justice and FBI to launch an investigation into these individuals for their actions during the 2016 presidential election.
The allegations leveled against each person varied: Clinton for the anti-Trump dossier; Comey for allowing Clinton to skirt charges after admitting she broke the law; McCabe for his “lack of candor” and leaking to the press; and Lynch for her involvement in the Uranium One scandal.
Her email goes beyond allegations, she boldly asks supporters to sign a petition in favor of the investigation by pressing a button blaring: “ADD YOUR NAME: Lock Them Up!”
“I hope that AG Jeff Sessions will take our recommendations seriously,” she wrote, which is something many Americans strongly support.
There’s credible evidence that many of these officials likely broke the law — some on numerous occasions — and Tenney’s explosive email is calling for these officials to face the music.
Many Americans support her call and want to see those held accountable who broke the law.

Parents Stand Up for Children in ‘Sex Ed Sit Out’ (good for them)
Parents across the country pulled their children out of public schools on Monday for the “Sex Ed Sit Out”—a grassroots awakening of frustrated parents who are sick of the sexualization of children in their taxpayer-funded schools.
The Sex Ed Sit Out was conceived by Elizabeth Johnston, who blogs at Activist Mommy, and other moms on social media who are concerned about the increasingly graphic, unscientific nature of sex education in public schools.
Parents protested in cities across the United States, as well as in England, Canada, and Australia.
In solidarity with the event, parents in Northern Virginia held a conference on Saturday on the radical changes in sex education and how schools deliberately deceive parents.
