If you have God inside you, as Adam and Eve did, being created with the Breath of God, the Ruach Elohim, they were living beings.
When they sinned, God and Sin do not co-exist, and the Holy Spirit departed them, and they knew they were naked.
They no longer were covered with the glory of God. They no longer shone like Moses at Sinai.
Elijah will die in the streets of Jerusalem at least 3.5 years from now. He will lay dead there for 3 days while the world celebrates his death, and then he will rise from the dead and ascend back into heaven.
He is one of the two witnesses, per the Transfiguration of Jesus, Moses and Elijah.
No, Jesus said that if Israel accepted Jesus as their Messiah, then John would have been in the spirit of Elijah, per the prophecy.
Israel rejected their messiah.
The real Elijah will walk the earth for 3.5 years, and stop the rain. Among other things. And then die, and be resurrected.

Your eschatology must be in error for you not to see this. You must believe in replacement theology or some other heresy. It's quite plain.
