Anon lived in China for 2 years. Most of what you've heard is true, not all. But there is a lot most people don't know, or never thought about.
Its modern as shit for one thing, at least in the cities where most people live. Their roads and trains are ridiculously nice. Airports, ditto. Coming back to visit home always felt old and crumbly by comparison.
Of course its mostly a facade. Two year old elevators that stop working, etc. No one renovates anything, they just let it degrade to dust.
Not in the cities, but lemme tell you, they eat EVERY FUCKING THING THAT GROWS OR MOVES. Stuff you would swear was just grass, or flower petals, or bark. There are no wild birds in Chinese cities.
Nah, it was mostly not a great experience for me. There were expats who had been their 10 years or more. Very difficult in a foreign culture without a local wife I think.
