NJ's Murphy Complains Non-Compliance With COVID Contact Tracers Hits 74%

Time to break out the microchips.

NJ Gov Phil Murphy expressed his frustration during a press briefing on Monday with the fact that NJ's contact-tracing efforts have been a colossal failure, largely due to astronomical rates of non-cooperation, a problem that also plagued NYC's famously botched contact tracing program.

According to the Garden State Governor, "the rate of noncooperation with our contact tracers is now up to a whopping 74%."

"The rate of noncooperation with our contact tracers is now up to a whopping 74% of cases. Quite frankly, this is unacceptable and we need folks to turn that around," Murphy said. "It is extremely critical for contact tracers to get in touch with the close contacts of those who test positive to help us stop the spread of this virus."

The audibly and visibly irritated governor added that contact tracers aren't conducting a "witch hunt"; they're just trying to help people. "We're only trying to stop the spread of this virus," Murphy reiterated. He added later in a tweet that the state has more than 30 contact tracers on the ground for every 100K residents, a solid ratio that should be producing much better results.

SUPREME BETRAYAL: ACB, ‘Conservative’ Justices Reject Pennsylvania Fraud Case Which Was ‘Likely to Succeed’

The Republican-dominated Supreme Court rejected Rep. Mike Kelly's challenge to allegedly unconstitutional election changes in Pennsylvania

Kelly v. Pennsylvania, the case widely considered to be Republicans’ strongest challenge to the disputed results of the 2020 election, has just been rejected in a one-sentence order from the Supreme Court. This dashes hopes that the Supreme Court’s 6-3 “Republican” majority would intervene to address proven 2020 election irregularities.

The order issued today reads simply:

The application for injunctive relief presented to Justice Alito and by him referred to the Court is denied.

The case, headed by Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), challenged the enactment and enforcement of various election law changes by the Republican Pennsylvania legislature and Democrat Governor from 2019 through 2020.

The Pennsylvania Constitution has very strict guidelines for how voters may receive absentee ballots and for how the Constitution may be amended.

Article VII, section 14 of the Pennsylvania Constitution requires that absentee ballots be given to voters in only four limited circumstances, and was directly violated by rules effectively allowing absentee ballots to anyone who applied for them.

As such, any changes to the handling of absentee ballots contradicting the Pennsylvania Constitution would have to be handled by a constitutional amendment. That would have had to have been approved by two consecutive legislative sessions and then approved by the voters in a ballot question for the election before the changes would take place.

The lawsuit initially fared well in Commonwealth Court, with Judge Patricia A. McCollough ordering a halt to official certification of the election results on November 27th. In her order, Judge McCollough noted that the Republicans “are likely to succeed on the merits because they have showed that a substantial legal question must be resolved to determine the rights of the parties.”

Merrill Lynch To Pay Former NH Governor $24 Million Over Excessive Trading Allegations

Merrill Lynch has been ordered by the state of New Hampshire to pay $26.25 million in fines and restitution to settle allegations that one of its top brokers traded excessively and without authorization in order to rack up huge commissions. The company was also cited for failure to supervise and was ordered to maintain new compliance rules.

Of that $26.25 million, more than $24 million in restitution will go to the former governor of New Hampshire, Craig Benson.

The fine is the "largest monetary sanction in the state’s history and the second largest FINRA settlement in at least a decade," according to CNBC.

The former broker accused of the wrongdoing, Charles Kenahan, has been barred from the industry. He was found to have “traded without authorization, mismarked trade confirmations, excessively traded stocks and Initial Public Offerings, over charged commissions, and inappropriately traded inverse and leveraged products,” according to NH regulators.

His actions resulted in “high commissions for Merrill Lynch and Kenahan and heavy losses for the investor.”

Former Nikola CEO Milton Sold $55 Million In Stock, Bought Three Properties

Today in "how to turn assets that don't exist into assets that do" news…

It was reported yesterday that disgraced founder and former CEO of Nikola, Trevor Milton, had sold 3.2 million shares of Nikola stock while still at the company in order to consummate "three real-estate transactions" and purchase three different properties.

As part of the transactions, Milton's LLC gave the shares on December 3 to the sellers of three piece of real estate, including a sprawling $32 million ranch Milton bought in Utah.

It appears Milton sold about $55 million worth of stock on the company's lockup expiration date last week, according to SEC filings. And voila! That makes three more pieces of real estate than Nikola trucks sold, as Hindenburg Research's Nathan Anderson noted on Twitter on Monday.

US Cybersecurity Firm FireEye Says Attacked by Nation With 'Top-Tier Capabilities'

The US cybersecurity firm FireEye said in a statement that it has been attacked by "a nation with top-tier offensive capabilities" that stole its internal hacking tools.

FireEye hasn't identified suspects, but the mainstream media, including Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, alleged that the hackers were from Russia.

“Recently, we were attacked by a highly sophisticated threat actor, one whose discipline, operational security, and techniques lead us to believe it was a state-sponsored attack,” the company said in a statement. “During our investigation to date, we have found that the attacker targeted and accessed certain Red Team assessment tools that we use to test our customers’ security.”

It explained that these tools mimic the behavior of cyber threat actors and enable to provide essential diagnostic security services to customers.

FireEye said that it continues the probe in coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other key partners, including Microsoft, and their initial analysis "supports the conclusion that this was the work of a highly sophisticated state-sponsored attacker utilizing novel techniques.”

In addition, the company has seen no evidence of attackers using its stolen tools, but “out of an abundance of caution” has developed more than 300 countermeasures for customers and the community at large.

Mexico Seeks Return of Fmr. Federal Police Chief Despite U.S. Drug Charges

In the wake of the controversial extradition and release of Mexico’s former Secretary of Defense who faced drug trafficking charges in a U.S. court, Mexico City now requests the return of the former leader of federal police.

Mexico’s foreign relations ministry recently filed an extradition request for former Public Security Secretary Genaro Garcia Luna, who is currently in a U.S. jail facing drug conspiracy charges in connection with the Sinaloa Cartel. According to El Universal, the extradition request came on November 27. Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office obtained an arrest warrant for the charge of illicit enrichment as well.

Garcia Luna served as the head of Mexico’s Federal Investigation Agency from 2001 to 2005. He then worked under President Felipe Calderon from 2006 to 2012 as secretary of public security. U.S. prosecutors claim that since 2001, Garcia Luna collaborated with organized crime figures and the Sinaloa Cartel received protection, sensitive intelligence, and targeted police actions against rivals in exchange for substantial bribes. He has been in a U.S. jail since late 2019. Garcia Luna’s arrest generated controversy in Mexico since it indicated widespread corruption at the highest levels of law enforcement.

The extradition request comes soon after Mexico City was able to strong-arm the U.S. into dropping all charges and extraditing former Secretary of Defense Salvador Cienfuegos. He was immediately released upon his return. Cienfuegos faced drug trafficking and conspiracy charges for allegedly working with a faction of the Beltran Leyva Cartel. Just like with Garcia Luna, Cienfuegos was accused of protecting the cartel, leaking information, providing safe passage, and targeting rivals. Cienfuegos’ arrest put a cloud over Mexico’s military apparatus at a time when President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador relies on it for many of his projects, including security and infrastructure construction.
