terraforming is easier, than traveling to another galaxy and finding such a planet, since they are so rare.

Not to mention rotating habitats are way easier and cheaper to build.

Actually there is one particle that would be precious to any alien life form.

It's Phosporus, it is only built in 3rd gen stars, so not much of it floating arround in big chunks in space, and it is crucial to life as we know it.
