Yeah, I'm thinking Roberts recusal, then a tied verdict. Who breaks a SC tie decision, anons? What would happen if that person recuses themselves? Who does it go to, then? Is there even a provision for that in the Constitution?
A judge could recuse for any reason, and it doesn't necessarily have to be disclosed (I don't think, anyway). However, this discussion came up when it came to during the impeachment situation.

I just think it'd be a smooth way to get it in the right hands to make the right decision without making @SCOTUS vote in a way that would be obviously perceived as a "self-preservation" vote.
You realize that ACB and Gorsuch have dissented in cases that were perceived to be in favor of the overall "Trump" agenda. I don't have the specific cases to link (tried looking for them; couldn't find them) but it's not outside the realm of possibility for any of them to side with the liberals for the "plan". They wouldn't even have to issue a view on it.
This is what I'm getting at.
