The West africans have a higher percentage of orange melanin producing DNA just like their CLOSE COUSINS, the pale-skinned red-headed people of Europe, who also have a defect which means that only small splotches of the melanin are produced. In East Africa and parts of southern India, the blue-black melanin percentage is much higher giving rise to people who truly have black skin. We should give back the term African American to those people who are immigrants from Africa. The rest of us who have been here for 3 generations or more should just say, "WE ARE AMERICANS, PERIOD!"
