Acting Secretary of Defense’s Chief of Staff, Kash Patel, Files a $50M Defamation Lawsuit Against CNN

The Acting Secretary of Defense’s Chief of Staff, Kash Patel, has just filed a $50 million lawsuit against CNN.

FOX News is reporting:

Kash Patel, the chief of staff to Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against CNN and several of its top reporters, claiming the liberal network published false statements and promoted “unfounded left-wing political narratives” by painting Patel as a pro-Trump conspiracy theorist seeking to smear President-elect Joe Biden.

The complaint filed on Friday in Virginia Circuit Court named CNN reporters Barbara Starr, Zachary Cohen, Ryan Browne, Alex Marquardt and Nicole Gaouette as defendants, in addition to the network itself. It claims CNN “deliberately or recklessly conveyed a false message” to sensationalize the “news” and humiliate Patel.

Patel, who was previously a top aide to Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., and a Trump advisor, claims CNN published a series of articles from Nov. 24 through Dec. 4 penned by the defendants that “contain a series of false and defamatory statements” about him, according to the complaint.

The complaint says defamatory statements in the articles include, “Trump loyalist connected to Biden conspiracy theories is leading Pentagon transition,” “Kash Patel, a Trump loyalist, … was connected to efforts to spread conspiracy theories about Joe Biden,” Kash “has also worked to discredit Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election,” “Pentagon blocked Biden’s intelligence transition team from meeting with agencies,” and “Defense Department transition office … is led by a Trump loyalist connected to efforts to spread conspiracy theories about the President-elect,” among other similar examples.

Kash Patel is infamous for his work in uncovering the Russia collusion hoax and the many lies surrounding the scandal. Patel worked for Devin Nunes and was instrumental in uncovering the Russiagate scandal – here is Nunes recently discussing Hillary Clinton’s efforts in creating the Russia collusion scandal:

Porn star Kendra Sutherland banned from Instagram after ‘joking’ about sex with CEO

Porn star Kendra Sutherland finally went too far for Instagram.

The social site pulled down her verified account — followed by 2.2 million fans — after she livestreamed her topless self doing a naughty act, then suggested she could get away with her shenanigans because she was having an affair with Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri.

Sunderland, 25, known for filming a sex scene in the library of Oregon State University, started her accusations about Mosseri, who is married with three kids, when she posted a topless photo of herself several weeks ago and told her followers she could put up the picture because she was “blowing” the “CEO of Instagram,” according to screengrabs captured by the Daily Beast.

Despite complaints from users, Instagram claimed Sunderland’s post didn’t go against community guidelines.

But Instagram did an about-face after Sunderland’s Instagram Live post Wednesday night.

Bragged Sunderland: “Hey guys! I just wanna let you know I’m not deleted yet… I’m batshit crazy. I might be sucking off the CEO of Instagram. But whatever it is, I’m here to stay!”

Fellow porn star Alana Evans pointed out Sunderland’s post in a tweet: “I don’t usually call out performers for their behavior on Instagram, but today I am done. This was posted to IG AFTER Kendra sucked off a dildo while TOPLESS LIVE on her IG story! NO MORE NEGOTIATIONS @INSTAGRAM Hey @mosseri wtf is this? Does your wife know?”

Sunderland’s account was history within 12 hours after Evans took to Twitter.

A rep for Facebook, which owns Instagram, told the Daily Beast: “Over a billion people use Instagram and at times that means we make mistakes. This account violated our policies and we’ve now removed it. This person has no connection to executives at our company, and claims that she received preferential treatment are baseless.”

Sunderland blamed the videos on alcohol and insisted she has never met Mosseri, according to the Daily Beast.

“I was also going crazy on Live yesterday, doing things I know I shouldn’t have, and was just drunk and didn’t care. I’m guessing that’s why. I would be surprised if the other reason was why, because I said it in such a joking manner. I never even really knew who the CEO of Instagram was, or anything. I’ve never met this person before in my life.”

CNN's April Ryan suggests media should ignore info that damages Biden, gets summarily torched

'…would make a Stalinist propagandist blush'

Reporter April Ryan, a political analyst for CNN, is being condemned for suggesting on Thursday that journalists should not expose contradictions between what Joe Biden says privately and what he says publicly.

Ryan's comments came after The Intercept obtained and reported on leaked audio of Biden admitting that Republicans "beat the hell out of" Democrats during last month's election for generally embracing the "defund the police" agenda.

The Biden transition team later defended the remarks, despite the comments rebuking the progressive vision for criminal justice reform.

What did Ryan say?

In response to the leaked audio, Ryan suggested the real story behind the remarks is why they were leaked.

"The question is who leaked this and why? Also I am told by a rights leader in that meeting that @JoeBiden was being more so passionate than defensive. Can't wait to hear what the Biden camp has to say!" Ryan tweeted.

Ryan later doubled down on that sentiment, again questioning why Biden's comments were leaked.

"I asked an incoming White House source was the meeting contentious with civil rights leader and @JoeBiden and the answer was 'no'. A rights leader at the meeting says @JoeBiden was passionate. The question is who taped this meeting and why? What is the agenda?" Ryan said.

What was the reaction?

Vice journalist Edward Ongweso Jr. highlighted the absurdity of Ryan's response to the leaked audio by mocking her reaction.

Ongweso tweeted:

It is irresponsible and sets a dangerous precedent for journalists covering the incoming administration to be able to use secretly recorded conversations in their stories. To parse out Biden's thoughts and anticipate his policy commitments, you must go through proper channels. The White House Press Secretary, the spokespeople for the President and Vice President, senior officials (without attribution), and the President's public statements are all designated and responsible sources for information about the President's thoughts and intentions. Revealing a contradiction between Biden's private thoughts and public statements is dangerous because it erodes public trust in the President, the Office, and the media itself.

Ryan, however, apparently did not understand that she was being mocked, replying, "You hit the nail on the head! This is not good at all."

Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University Law School and self-described "liberal," also tore into Ryan, calling her reaction to the leaked audio something that "would make a Stalinist propagandist blush."

"The fact is that Ryan was just stating what has become the approach of many in the media. As we recently discussed, we are moving dangerously close to a de facto state media with the cooperation of Big Tech companies," Turley wrote. "Ryan believes that it is outrageous to rely on unapproved material if it is critical of Joe Biden (despite her use of such material for the last four years against Trump)."
