Counselor Xu Min Attended the Reception Honoring the 35th Anniversary of Anhui-Maryland Relationship
On October 22nd 2015, the reception celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Sister Province/State relationship between Anhui of China and Maryland of the United States was held in Annapolis. Mr. Liu Weidong, Deputy Secretary General of Anhui Provincial Government, Mrs. Yumi Hogan, First Lady of Maryland State, Lieutenant Governor Rutherford, Secretary of State Wobensmith, Counselor Xu Min of the Chinese Embassy and over 100 guests attended the reception.
Mr. Liu Weidong, Mrs. Hogan and other speakers highly praised the progress of cooperation between Anhui and Maryland in the past 35 years, and expressed their commitment to further this relationship and produce more substantive win-win results.
Counselor Xu commented the wisdom and vision of the leadership of Anhui and Maryland who built up this Sister Province/State relationship in 1980, only one year after the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the US. Xu said, thanks to those trailblazers and concerted efforts by both sides, the friendship and cooperation between Anhui and Maryland have been greatly deepened and expanded in the past 35 years. President Xi Jinping recently concluded his successful state visit to the United States, during which he addressed the Third China-US Governors' Forum, expressing his support and expectation for furthering the province/state cooperation between the two countries. We sincerely hope that the relationship between Anhui and Maryland continues to yield win-win results for both sides and contributes to the overall China-US relationship.
