Tribadism (/ˈtrɪbədɪzəm/ TRIB-ə-diz-əm)[1] or tribbing, commonly known by its scissoring position, is a lesbian sexual practice in which a woman rubs her vulva against her partner's body for sexual stimulation, especially for stimulation of the clitoris. This may involve vulva-to-vulva contact or rubbing the vulva against the partner's thigh, stomach, buttocks, arm, or other body part (excluding the mouth).[2][3][4] A variety of sex positions are practiced, including the missionary position.[5][6]

The term tribadism originally encompassed societal beliefs about women's capability of being penetrative sexual partners.[2][7][8] Women accused of having been penetrative during sexual activity were subject to ridicule or punishment.[2][8][9] In modern times, the term typically refers to various forms of non-penetrative sex (or frottage) between women. It may also involve vaginal penetration by use of the fingers, a dildo or double penetration dildo.[4][8]

Ralph Waldo Emerson Community Charter School (formerly Ralph Waldo Emerson Middle School and commonly referred to as Emerson) is a charter middle school in the Los Angeles Unified School District in Westwood, Los Angeles, California, United States. It was designed by famed architect Richard Neutra and was named in honor of Ralph Waldo Emerson, the American author, poet, and philosopher.

The school offers special academic programs, including the Mathematics Engineering and Science Achievement (MESA), the School for Advanced Studies (SAS), and the Individualized Honors Program (IHP). Marilyn Monroe & Bonnie Raitt both attended Emerson. Michael Jackson, albeit only one semester, and La Toya Jackson, as well as the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis, also studied there.

On June 10, 2014, the Los Angeles Unified School District Board granted the school Affiliate Charter status,[3][4] thus adding Emerson to Los Angeles' growing roster of charter schools.

Emerson is best known for its Performing Arts Academy which offers classes that include Musical Theater, Stage Design, Costume Design, and Dance. (Note: Emerson terminated their Performing Arts Academy in 2012. This is false.)
