Joseph M. Siracusa is Professor of Human Security and International Diplomacy and Deputy Dean of Global Studies at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. Born and raised in Chicago and long-time resident in Australia, Siracusa is a frequent commentator on ABC Radio and Television. He is the author and co-author of numerous works, including: America and the Cold War, 1941-1991: A Realist Interpretation, 2 vols. (Praeger, 2010); The Death Penalty and U. S. Diplomacy: How Foreign Nations and International Organizations Influence U. S. Policy (Rowman & Littlefield, 2013); A Global History of the Nuclear Arms Race: Weapons, Strategy, and Politics, 2 vols. (Praeger, 2013); and Nuclear Weapons: A Very Short Introduction, (2nd edition, Oxford University Press, 2015). His interests include globalization and human security, nuclear history, international diplomacy, and Australian-American relations.
