WTH? Michigan Electoral College Proceedings Open With ‘Black National Anthem’

The “Black National Anthem” was sung during the Michigan Electoral College proceedings — following the actual national anthem.

The song is called “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and was dubbed the “Negro National Anthem” by the NAACP in 1919.

“Please remain standing for the National Anthem — and the Black National Anthem…” they announced before having two women sing the song.

Biden To Address Nation At 730pm After Capturing Electors From Contested States

Update (1717ET): Joe Biden will address the nation at 7:30 p.m. ET following today's Electoral College voting, in which he captured electors in all six battleground states in which President Trump and his supporters contested the November election.

As Bloomberg notes, "The 16 electors in Michigan voted for Biden, following the 63 votes cast for him earlier in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Biden will have enough electoral votes to be officially declared president-elect when members have cast 270 ballots, which is expected after California votes. Congress will officially count the votes on Jan. 6."

The votes come as Trump and his allies continue to contest the results, which Trump attorneys and supporters have suggested are fair game until January 6th.

On Monday, Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer tweeted that Republican electors in the state also met at the state capitol to cast votes for Trump and Vice President Mike Pence because a Trump campaign lawsuit contesting the state’s results is still pending. Former U.S. Representative Lou Barletta of Pennsylvania said the Trump electors in the commonwealth also held “conditional” votes in case a court were to overturn the results.

The idea is to send a rival slate of electors for Congress to consider. But there’s only one certified slate of electors that Congress can recognize from a state, and their move is “not going to work as a matter of law,” said Edward Foley, a professor and director of an election-law program at Ohio State University who has studied disputed elections. -Bloomberg

Biden received 306 electoral votes from the 25 states and the District of Columbia, while Trump captured 232 electoral votes from the 25 states he won.

Prince Andrew stayed at Epstein’s NYC mansion on 2001 trip despite denial: report

Despite his public denials, Prince Andrew did stay at Jeffrey Epstein’s New York mansion in the period when a teenage accuser said they had sex — and had a three-hour gap for “private time,” according to a new report based on his unearthed itinerary.

The 60-year-old disgraced royal insisted during his disastrous BBC interview last year that while he may have visited his pedophile pal’s Upper East Side mansion in April 2001, he “wasn’t staying there.”

“I was staying with the consul-general, which is further down the street on Fifth,” Andrew said, suggesting that was proof there was “definitely … no activity.”

However, an official itinerary unearthed by the Daily Mail lists him as spending one of the three nights “at a private address in New York” — which numerous sources insisted to the UK paper was Epstein’s sprawling home on East 71st Street.

The three-day stay has come under intense scrutiny because it is when Virginia Roberts Giuffre has repeatedly alleged Epstein made her have sex with the royal for the second of three times, while she was just 17 years old. Andrew has vehemently denied that claim.

Flight records appear to show Giuffre was in New York at the time — with the duke having an unaccounted-for three-hour slot marked as “private time” on his schedule, the Mail said.

Neither the two Scotland Yard bodyguards nor the member of the royal household assisting him on the trip were able to account for that missing time, the paper said of its investigation over “several months.”

Others on the trip also suggested the prince failed to keep many of his scheduled appointments — suggesting he may have had even more free time, the Mail said.

Sources told the paper that since his initial denials, Andrew now recalls staying at the late pedophile’s pad to “save taxpayers’ money.”

The prince’s reps refused to discuss the report Monday. “We are not issuing any comment. Nothing at all,” a spokeswoman told the Guardian.

Andrew has expressed regret for his friendship with Epstein — one that continued even after the moneyman was jailed for underage sex crimes — while denying any knowledge or involvement.

In the same BBC interview in which he denied staying at Epstein’s, he even denied knowing Giuffre. The harsh backlash to his interview ultimately led to him being dumped from royal duties.

The feds have repeatedly accused the royal — a close, longtime friend of Epstein’s accused madam, Ghislaine Maxwell — of refusing to assist their ongoing investigation into sex trafficking.

The Mail’s sources insisted the duke is not a suspect but a potential key witness.

Epstein, 66, hanged himself in his Manhattan lockup in August 2019 while awaiting serious sex charges. British media heiress Maxwell, 58, is in custody awaiting trial next year on sex abuse charges. She has pleaded not guilty.

CONTINGENT ELECTION: Pence, GOP Senate Can Invalidate Democrat Presidential Electors In AZ, GA, MI, GA, NV, WI

The Constitution has a process for ending a contested election, and it may be underway.

As President Donald Trump is expected to receive an unexpected number of Electoral College votes from states with ongoing controversies and contests relating to the 2020 presidential election, the opportunity is rapidly approaching for both Vice President Mike Pence and the Republican-led Senate to, with help from Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) in the House, deny the Electoral College votes of battleground states with suspicious or fraudulent election results.

As National File exclusively reported today, officials have confirmed that an effort is underway in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and other states to send a slate of presidential electors intending to vote for President Donald Trump.

This opens the door for a Constitutional event that has not been seen since 1876, as National File previously noted.

National File spoke exclusively to constitutional lawyer Ivan Raiklin today, who previously outlined much of what is happening now, to learn more about what will likely unfold.

According to Raiklin, on January 6, when the Congress enters into a joint session, under which Pence presides, states’ Electoral College votes will begin being counted in alphabetical order.

When Arizona is reached, a sitting U.S. Representative, likely Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who has already indicated he will do this, is able to object. If a sitting U.S. Senator agrees, with experts suggesting Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), or Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) are all likely candidates, then the objection has met the “legal minimum requirement” and will be noted.

At this point, the U.S. Senate will break off from the joint session to deliberate on the objection and determine whether to accept the slate from Arizona. The Senate, which will ostensibly still be held by a Republican majority on January 6, can then choose along party lines not to accept the electoral slate from Arizona.

Meanwhile, the House, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), will accept the original electors from Arizona. Pence would then serve as the tie breaking vote, refusing to accept the original Arizona electors.

This process could continue for every contested state, until neither President Trump nor Joe Biden have secured the requisite number of electoral votes.

Pro-Biden Union Settles Corruption Probe

DETROIT – United States Attorney Matthew Schneider announced that an agreement has been reached with the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) to resolve the office’s findings of fraud and corruption within the UAW.

Schneider was joined in the announcement by UAW International President Rory Gamble.

Today, the United States filed an anti-corruption and anti-fraud civil lawsuit against the UAW in federal district court seeking equitable relief to bring about reform and oversight of the union. Also today, the parties jointly filed a proposed Consent Order setting forth the terms of a settlement of the lawsuit. Under the terms of the proposed settlement, the Court would appoint an Independent Monitor who would have the authority to exercise disciplinary powers within the UAW, to investigate possible fraud or corruption within the union, and to seek discipline against UAW officers and members before a UAW Trial Committee, or before an Independent Adjudications Officer also appointed by the Court. The Monitor’s oversight of the union would last for six years, with a possible early termination if the Monitor were to find that his or her work is complete and the UAW no longer needs the Monitor’s services, or extension if the Monitor or the parties feel that a longer period is appropriate. Besides the Monitor, the UAW will conduct a binding and secret-ballot referendum of its membership, overseen by the Monitor and the Department of Labor, to determine whether to change the UAW’s election method from the current delegate system to a direct election model, where the entire UAW membership could vote for the UAW President and the other members of the UAW’s International Executive Board. Through the referendum, members would decide whether the UAW’s constitution would be changed to provide for a direct election system in the union, sometimes referred to as “one member, one vote,” starting in the 2022 election cycle. The parties have jointly proposed the referendum so that all of the men and women of the UAW—and not the government—can decide the method to elect the union’s leaders. The costs associated with the Monitor would be borne by the UAW. The Monitor’s duties would not include any involvement in the collective bargaining process or the day-to-day administration of those contracts, absent any indication of corruption or fraud. The UAW’s board would continue to oversee collective bargaining negotiations and enforcement going forward.

Michigan Republican loses his committee assignments after comments construed as a refusal to condemn violence

Rep. Gary Eisen could not say no one would get hurt at an event to appoint alternate Electoral College electors in Michigan's Capitol.

Republican leaders in the Michigan Legislature reprimanded one of their GOP colleagues Monday after he made comments that some construed to "open the door to violent behavior" as security concerns have been raised over groups promising to disrupt the Electoral College vote in the state Capitol this afternoon.

Rep. Gary Eisen (R-St. Clair Township) made the comments on a morning radio program after he was interviewed about the imminent Electoral College vote, the Detroit Free Press reported. Michigan's 16 electoral votes will be cast for former Vice President Joe Biden, who was certified as the winner of the state in the 2020 presidential election. President Donald Trump's campaign and other Republicans filed several unsuccessful legal challenges to stop the certification of the election.

Eisen said that he and others would go further by participating in an event at the Capitol to appoint an alternative set of electors for the Electoral College and, when asked, he seemingly did not rule out the possibility of violence at the event. The lawmaker described what he and others were trying to do as a "Hail Mary" for Republicans to overturn the results of the election.

State House and Senate office buildings in Lansing were closed Monday because of "credible threats of violence" reported by law enforcement officials. According to the Detroit Free Press, there have been unconfirmed reports of violent threats made against Michigan delegates to the Electoral College.

Eisen was asked about the security concerns on the radio.

"Can you assure me that this is going to be safe day in Lansing, nobody's going to get hurt?" radio host Paul Miller asked Eisen.

"No," he responded. "I don't know because what we're doing today is uncharted. It hasn't been done."

Following these comments, Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield (R-Levering) announced that Eisen would be stripped of his committee assignments in a statement denouncing threats made against the Electoral College proceedings and accusing Eisen of opening the door to violence with his remarks.

Forget the indoor dining ban — Mayor de Blasio is threatening a 'full shutdown' in New York City

Is a complete lockdown coming?

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) said Monday that he is prepared to see the government go beyond the governor's recent shutdown of indoor dining in the city and threatened that there could be a full citywide lockdown in the near future.

New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared that all of New York City's indoor dining would be shut down effective Monday.

Cuomo made the move despite the fact that, according to his own slide presentation during the shutdown announcement, restaurants and bars accounted for less than 1.5% of the share of exposure to COVID-19.

De Blasio made an appearance on CNN's "New Day" Monday to discuss COVID-19 shutdowns and vaccines. During the interview, host Alisyn Camerota confronted the mayor about closing restaurants.

"Is it possible that closing restaurants isn't going to do what you hope it will?" Camerota asked.

De Blasio, naturally, didn't shy away from the restaurant shutdown edict, though he claimed, "I feel for these restaurant owners," and lauded the new "permanent" outdoor dining. But then he went on to think it's time to be "ready" for a full shutdown — which, of course, would mean that the outdoor dining the mayor just touted would be closed, too.

Citing growing numbers of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations and the need to "protect people's lives," he declared "you've got to start shutting down the most sensitive areas." He went on to echo Cuomo's recent statements that a "larger shutdown" could be on the way in the Big Apple and that it's something the city's residents should be "ready for in the coming weeks."

Camerota didn't let the mayor's statement slide by. She pushed back on de Blasio's assertion that the "most sensitive places" should include restaurants.

"On balance, maybe it would be more important to protect people's livelihood and paychecks" than shut down places that contribute to only 1.43% of the spread, she said.

The mayor responded that "unfortunately, this is just one of a number of steps that, I think, are going to be needed."

"There's going to be more restrictions after this," he warned.

Camerota asked him what other kinds restrictions he had in mind.

"A full shutdown," de Blasio said, noting that it's time to stop the virus' momentum.

"I think, Alisyn, you're talking about the potential — and again, I'm quoting from Gov. Cuomo, and I think he's right — there's the potential of having to do a full pause, a full shutdown in the coming weeks," he said, noting how the city fought back against the virus in the spring and needed to do it again.

"We're seeing the kind of level of infection with the coronavirus we haven't seen since May, and we have got to stop that momentum — or else, our hospital system will be threatened," the mayor continued.

According to de Blasio, "That's worth putting restrictions in place for."

Hizzoner made it clear by the end of the segment that a shutdown would not be targeted — it would be "across the board."

After halting indoor dining due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, Mayor @BilldeBlasio said New York City could see a “f… https://t.co/Cn9lLqdMfh
