I'm trying to help the other Anon. How about:

Scout ambush positions, create fighting positions in nearby woods (chainsaw and/or shovel), stash provisions, water, and ammunition, run communication cable, install roadside debris piles to simulate IEDs, prepare aid stations in homes.

Anyone who wants to help without arming themselves could do this and more.
