You don't appoint an acting AG because someone is taking off for Christmas.
When POTUS likes you he has: very nice meeting, to fire you.
When he doesn't, you get fired on the shitter by a tweet or when you are on live TV with a tweet and then steals your ride home, while he has his troops raid your office.
I have this feeling that the pressure he and others are under, is not only by POTUS' design, but he left them hanging on purpose. I believe they 'yielded' weeks ago but were 'told' to keep up the resistance charade until POTUS gave the word.
