No, you're right. This show has done as many seasons as the scriptwriters could squeeze out of it. They realise now that it must have a conclusion. Fans of the show want a satisfying conclusion. All the mythic roads have led here.
This final few episodes will either be epic and fitting or people will talk for decades about the show that promised so much but kinda just faded away with no decisive resolutions.

If Assange threatens the DS to the extent that legend seems to suggest then the cacophony will be loud from the sirens of evil. If Assange is real and not a DS actor himself then the reaction to a pardon for a journalist who told the truth will expose them even more.
Or……… Assange might get a sudden, very dangerous illness and die in prison. If I was Assange, and a genuine Good guy, I'd be as worried about a pardon as continued incarceration. It's a roulette wheel for him.
