Bullets are a challenge. Firearms can be had, but there are very few "deals". I just bought a new-in-case 9mm RIA 1911 for my wife for $400. Excellent price (for today). But I would never have known about it if my son hadn't seen it in a display case 5 states away.

Try walking into an indoor range and buying a box or two of whatever they have on the shelf for practice ammo. It's nothing fancy, but it will make holes in things.
