Yup.
There’s a big difference between ideological/political cults and religious cults. Not all have to claim or claim Jesus as divine. JW’s and Mormons for example believe in some sort or divinity of Christ yet are cults. However, there are also cults like Scientology and liberal progressives who are cults yet have nothing to do with religion.
So are unbelievers in a cult or are they blind with darkened hearts? I read that there are those who have purposely left the faith to follow a different gospel and there are those who haven’t been regenerated.
Disagree. Unbelievers have no way of knowing what the truth is unless it’s been revealed to them. How can they be a synagogue of satan if they don’t know what the truth even is? They are blind and ignorant. I know progressives who don’t even realize they’re in a ideological cult. On the other hand, yes, those who know the truth and willingly join a cult are in outright disobedience.
They have a glimpse of the truth. A blurred image. But a person can’t know the truth until they are born again. It’s impossible to know the truth of God without His Spirit living in them.
