I've always thought the media's focus on the executive was overdone. They were setting us up to accept an emperor who could rule by EO. They never did like the constitution. They never thought she would lose.
Their control of the media meant that the emperor would never be portrayed negatively.

They control all of them with bribes and blackmail and that one time they took the bait.
They spent decades creating the illusion of an all-powerful executive. They empowered that executive - to the max with their last and fully-owned presidency. They set the stage for an emperor, prepared the public, empowered the position - and then lost it.
They never thought she would lose. They are 'all-in' on this and fighting an executive of their own creation, with all the powers they intended her to have. Kek.
